Focus is Still an Issue When Working at Home
Posted by BloggyMommy at 7:09 pm in My Goals

Now that my little man is getting older and older (well, 2.5 months old ;), I’m finding it more difficult to focus.  He’s still little enough that I should be able to get a lot of work done.  Problem is, I have too many projects to get done and he wants to be entertained a lot more often.

I am discovering a lot about my personality by working at home.  What I’ve learned is that I am always excited by the next greatest thing and tend to leave other projects behind (i.e. why I haven’t updated this blog as often as I’d like).

And from what I gather by reading other blogs and visiting forums is that other people have a lot of trouble focusing as well.  We’re bombarded on the internet.  Everyone is selling something (Even I am, or trying to), and everyone is trying to tell you that their way is best.  When I look back on the last month or so I can’t believe how many programs I’ve joined and how many projects I’ve gotten myself into.

The lesson to be learned here is that progress will not be made if there is no focus.  (See what happened to me this month in my other blog, Project Wahm

I did not meet my work at home goal, I did not even meet half of my work at home goal.  Reason?  It wasn’t because I’m not working hard.  I work very hard and for very long hours.  The reason I did not succeed is because I never finished a single project, I moved on to this one and than one.  I’ve learned to turn the blinders on.

What do I do if I receive an offer for the latest and greatest make-a-million-dollars ebook?  I’ve learned to delete that e-mail and continue building my business.  I think that’s a valuable lesson that you’d do well to follow too :)

  1. It is hard to focus when you have kids. My girls take up most of my time. I have no choice but to multi task and that sometimes is’t a very good idea. I end up getting way less done.
